It was definitely love-all recently at the Olympic badminton competition, where Bill Pickthorn, the assistant competition manager, married longtime sweetheart Karen Frischmeyer, the athletes’ services supervisor.
Taking advantage of a break in the first-round competition, Pickthorn and Frischmeyer were wed in the Olympic Family Lounge at Georgia State University on July 28 by badminton line judge Gary Jackson, who serves as a court judge in real life. The wedding cake was shaped like a green badminton court, and the attendees showered the newlyweds with shuttlecocks.
“In honor of the Olympics,” Pickthorn said, “we’re only going to celebrate our anniversary once every four years.”
