The James Monroe High School football team in North Hills is already practicing for the upcoming season, but the heart and soul of the team is missing. . . . Head Coach Fred Cuccia has suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and there is no word on when he will be released from the hospital. But, say colleagues of the gregarious and energetic coach, if anyone can come back from such a setback, it’s Cuccia (C8).
Meet the Makers
Kicking off a nine-week exhibit featuring the creations of several Valley artists, the Finegood Gallery in West Hills invites the public to meet the people behind the work at a 2 p.m. reception today. . . . Titled “Eclectic Expressions,” the exhibit will showcase Valley artists such as Art Kushell, Lezlie Kussin and Eileen Meshekow.
Party Train
Making a brief stop in Glendale during its 500-mile trek from Oakland to San Diego on Saturday, the California Republican Party’s “Victory Express” train drew an enthusiastic crowd of supporters--and some protesters--for a 20-minute rally (B1). . . . “Do we want four more years of great speeches or four more years of great leadership?” Assemblyman James Rogan asked the audience.
