Newport Harbor’s Ohrel Rushes for 209 yards

NEWPORT BEACH — Ray Ohrel rushed for 209 yards in 13 carries and Greg Wertman carried the ball five times for 94 yards as Newport Harbor blasted Orange, 48-14, in a nonleague football game Friday at Newport Harbor.
Ohrel began the scoring with an eight-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter and Peter Hogan added another score in the quarter on a four-yard touchdown pass from Josiah Fredriksen.
Fredriksen threw for 115 yards, completing 10 of 16 passes, including three for touchdowns. He found Hogan for a seven-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, and then connected with Brad La Bass on a 30-yard strike to give Newport Harbor a 28-0 lead at the half.
Ohrel added a 23-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to increase the Sailors’ lead to 35-0, and Wertman finished the scoring with touchdown runs of two and 67 yards.
The Sailors (1-0) out-gained Orange, 457-292, in total yards.
