LOOKING AHEAD / WEEKEND EVENTS : Top Tournament Set to Begin

The South Coast water polo tournament, the season’s first major event, starts today at Newport Harbor, Irvine, Corona del Mar and Tustin high schools.
The 32-team tournament, first held in 1973, features eight teams in the Orange County coaches’ top 10, including the top seven.
Top-ranked Foothill, Long Beach Wilson (ranked second in Southern Section Division I), No. 2 San Clemente and No. 3 Costa Mesa are the seeded teams.
The title game is scheduled for 3:40 p.m. Saturday.
