City Loses Bid to Deny Access to Officer’s File

In what prosecutors called an unprecedented move, attorneys for Alhambra tried Tuesday to deny the district attorney’s office access to the personnel file of a well-connected Alhambra police officer charged with embezzlement.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James Dunn ruled against Alhambra, ordering officials to turn over the personnel file of veteran Police Officer Stephen R. Perry, who is scheduled to go on trial Oct. 10 on charges of taking more than $30,000 from the Alhambra Police Officer’s Assn.
Alhambra attorneys asserted that releasing the files would violate Perry’s privacy rights.
