Jets: NFL Chief Admits Error

New York Coach Rich Kotite said that NFL director of officiating Jerry Seeman admitted that Jet wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson should have been awarded a touchdown on a controversial play that ended with an interception by Washington Redskin cornerback Tom Carter at a pivotal point in Sunday’s game.

The Redskins eventually won, 31-16, but led only 24-16 midway through the fourth-quarter when pass interference was called on Johnson.

“I talked with Jerry Seeman and he acknowledged that it was a touchdown for Keyshawn,” Kotite said in Hempstead, N.Y.

Seeman was not available to comment and the NFL refused to answer questions about the calls or the Seeman-Kotite conversation.
