Authorities are still searching for a man who kidnapped a woman in April and made her drive him into Matilija Canyon.
The incident occurred April 4 about 10 p.m., according to Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy Leslie Mayorga. A man got into the unidentified woman’s 1989 Chevrolet Celebrity while she was stopped at the corner of Maricopa Highway and El Roblar Drive in Ojai, Mayorga said.
He held an object to the woman’s throat and threatened to harm her if she didn’t drive, authorities said. The victim couldn’t tell what kind of weapon the kidnapper used.
After driving about two miles into Matilija Canyon, the woman was ordered to stop. The kidnapper got out of the car and walked away, Mayorga said. The driver was not hurt.
The kidnapper is described as white, 16 to 18 years old, 5 feet, 6 inches tall and 150 pounds, with brown hair.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 385-TALK. Refer to case No. 96-27726.
