The Orange County chapter of the United Nations Assn. will host a panel discussion Sunday on local development, covering issues of business, environment, quality of life, resources, transportation, housing and other topics.
The focus of the discussions will be on how to balance these elements and create sustainable communities over the long term, said chapter president Suzanne Darweesh.
The panel, moderated by former Irvine Mayor Larry Agran, will comprise Patti Hachiya, health services supervisor for the Placentia/Yorba Linda School District; former Anaheim City School District Supt. Mel Lopez; Orange County Human Relations Commission Supervisor Rusty Kennedy; and Alliance for Survival Director Marion Pack.
Also included are United Way regional director Tim Shaw; OCTA air-quality manager James Ortner; U.S. Small Business Administration acting regional director Sandy Sutton; and League of California Cities division executive director Janet Huston.
The program is open to the public, and a $5 donation is requested.
Chapman University is at 333 N. Glassell St., Orange. The discussion will be in the Memorial Auditorium.
