Bakersfield 38, Pierce 11--Jim Landress threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Leon Weathersby with 4:07 left but it was too little too late for Pierce (0-6) in a WSC Northern Division opener at Bakersfield (5-1).
Landress completed five of 11 passes for 45 yards after replacing Dan McMullen, who was 15 of 30 for 134 yards.
Antelope Valley 22, Southwestern 13--Jamar Day ran three yards to give the Marauders (3-3) a clinching touchdown with 2:48 left in a Foothill Conference game.
Day, who had 179 yards in 19 carries, set up the score with a 72-yard run.
