Sales of all homes in California rose 11.5% during the quarter compared with the same period last year, according to Dataquick Information Systems, a La Jolla-based real estate research firm. Sales of both new and existing single-family homes and condominiums totaled 94,014 for the July-September period. The statewide median sales price rose 1.2% from the same period last year to $165,000. Median home prices in about half the state’s communities declined or remained flat; price increases occurred most notably in the Silicon Valley and several Southern California costal neighborhoods, Dataquick said.
