Program to Recycle ‘Green’ Waste Planned

A new city program to recycle “green” waste, including leaves, lawn clippings and tree branches, will begin Nov. 11.
The plan will raise trash collection rates 39 cents a month for each residence. However, the rates will drop by about $6 a month for businesses.
The city was able to lower the business rates and raise residential rates only slightly because of a drop in county landfill charges, city finance directors said.
