Chicano Poet Society Tops ‘Popcorn’ Bill
The Chicano Poet Society will be featured Saturday at the San Clemente Popcorn Reviews.
Carlos De Rosas, a spokesman for the society, said the group of college students uses drama and comedy to promote three ideals in its presentations: higher education, cultural awareness and community involvement.
The Popcorn Reviews have been held for nearly two decades in the San Clemente home of Howard and Betty Tangler.
“We invite whoever seems interesting to us,” Betty Tangler said. “In the past we’ve had artists, singers, even Tom Morey, the guy who makes all those boogie boards.”
The free public event, true to its name, serves popcorn and other refreshments.
The Tangler residence is at 413 Avenida Magdalena. Information: (714) 498-5004.
