Cypress Beats Orange Coast in Regional Soccer Final

Colby Morgan scored two goals and the Cypress women’s soccer team defeated Orange Coast, 3-0, in the Southern California regional final Saturday at Cal State Fullerton.
Cypress (17-0-1) advanced to the state tournament for the third time in four seasons. The tournament starts Saturday at Consumnes River College in Sacramento.
Lori Harris scored in the third minute and Morgan scored three minutes later.
Morgan scored her second goal after rebounding a shot by Jenny Ryan that bounced off the crossbar midway through the second half.
In the Southern California women’s volleyball playoffs:
Fullerton 3, Palomar 0--Michelle Halliday had 13 kills and nine blocks for the host Hornets (16-2), who won, 15-2, 15-8, 15-13.
Nadia Hoerner had 12 kills and five blocks. Fullerton advanced to the state tournament, which begins Friday at Delta College in Stockton.
Golden West 3, Santa Barbara 0--Mariah Marquis had 13 kills for host Golden West (21-1), which won, 15-6, 15-0, 15-3.
In the Citrus men’s basketball tournament:
Rancho Santiago 83, Santa Barbara 67--Lohnnie Tape scored 24 points and Andres Nieto scored 14 as Rancho Santiago (4-1) won the title game. Tape and Nieto were named the co-most valuable players of the tournament.
In nonconference men’s basketball:
Orange Coast 83, College of the Canyons 77--Adrian Reyes led Orange Coast, scoring 18 of his 27 points on three-pointers.
In the Cypress women’s basketball tournament
Cypress 76, Citrus 46--Holly Pawlowski had 17 points and eight rebounds for Cypress (5-2).
In nonconference women’s basketball:
Orange Coast 64, Victor Valley 63--Dianne Pulido led Orange Coast (5-1) with 21 points and eight rebounds.
