Esperanza middle blocker Jennifer Sarna, 17, has orally committed to attend Cal Poly Pomona in the fall to play volleyball, Aztec Coach Kurt Kersten said Tuesday.
The 6-foot-2 Sarna, in only her second season playing volleyball and her first on varsity, also considered Montana State and Northwestern Louisiana, Kersten said.
“She’s worked hard to become a scholarship player,” Kersten said. “What also helped her development was playing on our team and her club team, plus Sunset League competition makes you good.”
Esperanza was 13-5 overall last season, finished third in league and reached the semifinals of the Southern Section Division I-AA playoffs.
