SEAL BEACH — Rockwell International Corp. will supply avionics systems for a new tilt-rotor aircraft from Textron Inc.’s Bell division and Boeing Co.
Rockwell’s Collins General Aviation Division will supply its Pro Line 21 system for the Bell Boeing 609, an aircraft that can hover like a helicopter for takeoff and landing and flies at the higher speeds of a fixed-wing aircraft.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The 609 aircraft, a civilian version of the V-22 Osprey that Bell and Boeing make for the U.S. military, isn’t yet on the market.
The Pro Line 21 consists of three flat-panel display screens showing air speed, altitude, engine condition and navigation information. Rockwell also will make radio components, weather radar and maintenance computers for the 609 aircraft. It was unveiled in November and is expected to carry six to nine passengers.
