SEASON AT A GLANCE: Bautista entered his third varsity season with a proven track record. As a sophomore, he placed sixth in the state finals, then reached the Southern Section Division I finals last season before defaulting because of a rib injury. This season, Bautista is 23-0 and has placed first in four tournaments, three of which he was selected outstanding wrestler among lower weights.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Bautista won five matches, including four by pin, to win a title at the Orange Glenn tournament in San Diego. Bautista defeated Danny Chiu of Escondido, 17-5, for the 130-pound championship. Chiu was a state qualifier last season. Rio Mesa finished 15th among 30 teams.
