Irvine Co. Sponsors Scholarship Program

The Irvine Co. has opened competition for $48,000 in college scholarships to student leaders who have at least a 3.0 grade-point average at schools on Irvine Ranch land.

That limits the competition for the company’s annual Spectrum Leadership Award to college-bound seniors at high schools in Irvine, Newport Beach, Tustin, Laguna Beach and Costa Mesa.

The awards go to the 20 students who best demonstrate, through their community service work and extracurricular activities, that they have the qualities necessary to become future community leaders.

Applications for the scholarship are available through Feb. 26 at the counselors’ offices at 10 high schools. Two students from each of the schools will be given the title of Spectrum Leader along with a cash award.
