Police Seek Suspect in Man’s Shooting

Police continued their search Sunday for a man suspected of shooting and critically wounding an Oxnard man early Sunday morning in front of John’s Rendezvous Restaurant, 3712 Saviers Road, said Oxnard Police Cmdr. John Crombach.
According to police, Jose Basilan, 24, was shot once in the chest about 2 a.m. Sunday by a suspect that witnesses described as a 26- or 27-year-old Filipino man. The suspect may have been driving a burgundy Lincoln Continental or a Chevrolet El Camino.
Basilan was transported to St. John’s Regional Medical Center where he was in critical condition in the coronary care unit.
