Anita Hill to Be Visiting Scholar at Berkeley

Anita F. Hill, the law school professor who sparked a national debate on sexual harassment with allegations against Clarence Thomas during his 1991 Supreme Court confirmation hearings, will spend the spring semester as a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley, the university has announced.

Officials said Hill, who recently resigned from the University of Oklahoma, will spend her time researching a new book on sexual harassment in the workplace and holding seminars for graduate students and faculty members at Berkeley’s Institute for the Study of Social Change.

Institute Director Troy Duster said Hill’s televised testimony increased public awareness of sexual and racial harassment in the workplace. “What her presence here will do is crystallize discussions of where things are now with these issues,” Duster said.
