Whale Celebration Planned for Sunday
The Ventura Harbor Village will kick off its second annual whale celebration Sunday in and around the village at 1559 Spinnaker Drive.
The event will celebrate the annual migration of the Pacific gray whale from the warm birthing waters off the Baja Peninsula to food-rich waters near Alaska.
There will be several educational and environmental displays, art exhibits, a Chumash cultural presentation and whale-watching tours. These presentations will begin at noon and run until 4 p.m.
Organizers have also scheduled a number of children’s events, including sand painting, a treasure hunt, pony rides, face painting and a visit from “Flo,” the 40-foot inflatable whale.
For information, call the Ventura Harbor Village at 644-0169.
