Tenet Discusses Hospital Deal

Tenet Healthcare Corp. confirmed it is in discussions about a possible acquisition or other business arrangement with Queen of Angels-Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital in Los Angeles. “We’re in discussions,” said Joan Galvan, a spokesman for Santa Barbara-based Tenet. Local 399 of the Service Employees International Union, which represents more than 1,000 health-care workers at the hospital, said in a statement that it would oppose a sale of the nonprofit Queen of Angels to Tenet, the nation’s second-largest for-profit hospital chain, because it believes such a deal would adversely impact medical care for the hospital’s low-income patients.
