Drug Sentences

As a taxpayer I believe in efficiency. As a person I believe in fairness. Your editorial (“New Approach to Drug Crime,” May 5) is most appropriate. Most of us thought that the three-strikes law applied to violent crimes. Its use to put away drug abusers with long jail sentences is stupid on both counts. Jail time never cured a disease.
