Pinkerton Inc. to Handle Security for Compaq Corp.

Pinkerton Inc. said it has been selected to provide securities services to Compaq Computer Corp., based in Houston.

The Encino-based company said the contract with Compaq, now among its five largest clients, runs through the first quarter of 2000.

Pinkerton said that it will provide all uniformed security officer services at the computer company’s Houston corporate headquarters and for all of Compaq’s U.S. manufacturing and distribution centers.

Founded in 1850 by Allan Pinkerton, the company provides a broad array of security services and technologies to its clients through 220 offices in North America, Europe and Asia.

Pinkerton employs more than 47,000 workers and posted a net income in 1996 of $12.5 million on revenues of $906.2 million.
