ACT Networks to Develop Products With NetSpeak

ACT Networks in Camarillo has formed an alliance with NetSpeak Corp. to develop Internet products.
The purpose of the alliance is to integrate ACT and NetSpeak products to run on ACT’s network access platforms. Target customers include telephone companies, Internet service providers, data service providers and corporations.
The deal calls for ACT to make an equity investment of $2 million in NetSpeak’s proposed initial public offering. Martin Shum, ACT’s chairman and CEO, will join NetSpeak’s board of directors.
NetSpeak, based in Boca Raton, Fla., develops Internet software products for business and consumers. ACT develops wide-area network access products that support voice, data and integrated network applications.
