Uniforms Likely for Dale Junior High

Trustees are expected to approve a pilot program today requiring school uniforms at Dale Junior High School.
The program will test the waters for other Anaheim Union High School District schools, district officials said.
Trustee Katherine H. Smith said she expects the policy to improve students’ academic performance and reduce vandalism and absenteeism.
“It’s a win-win for everyone,” Smith said. “And if teachers love it and kids are feeling better, I would think it would be a natural to start implementing it in other schools.”
Of the parents who returned a recent survey on Dale’s proposed uniform policy, 76% supported it.
Dale students will be expected to wear uniforms beginning this fall. A committee of parents, teachers and students will select the style and colors, Principal John Douglas said.
District officials said they will assist families who can’t afford uniforms.
The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. at the district offices, 501 Crescent Way, Anaheim.
