Brian Reeves had nine receptions for 107 yards and scored four touchdowns, but it was not enough as the Piranhas fell to the Iowa Barnstormers, 63-42, in an Arena League football game Saturday night at the Barn in Des Moines.
Reeves, who was returning from a two-week suspension imposed by Coach Mike Hohensee, scored on receptions of 21, 18 and 15 yards. He also scored on a one-yard run.
With the score tied, 42-42, with six minutes to go, the Barnstormers scored three unanswered touchdowns. The first was a one-yard run by Kurt Warner. On the ensuing kickoff, the Barnstormers recovered the ball on a rebound off the net in the end zone to push the score to 56-42. They added the final points of the game on a three-yard run by John Motton.
“We played real hard against a good football team,” Hohensee said. “Iowa is running on all cylinders and is playing as well as anybody in the league. Our young guys are getting better each week and I think we continue to improve each week as a team.”
Improving weekly is rookie quarterback Mark Grieb. He threw for 206 yards and five touchdowns.
The Barnstormers improve to 4-1; the Piranhas fall to 1-4.
