Orange County Team Advances to Title Game

Matt Gay of Cypress High hit a home run in each game as the Orange County Stars won twice to reach the championship of the AABC Mickey Mantle World Series Sunday in McKinney, Texas.

The Stars, a team of 15- and 16-year-olds based in Anaheim, beat Tennessee’s AFPC, 3-2, and the Dallas Braves, 2-0. The Stars need only one victory when they meet AFPC in the title game at 3 p.m. today.

The Tennessee team must win twice to take the tournament title.
