Attendance at the Fullerton Museum Center’s paean to Southern California’s restaurants and eateries is drawing healthy crowds.

The exhibition, billed as a “savory excursion through the history of the American restaurant,” has a decidedly Southern California flavor. Some of the eateries featured include: Carl’s Jr., Johnny Rockets, Brown Derby, Chasen’s and Lawry’s.

“People find all kinds of different things that they can relate to,” said Lynn LeBate, museum curator. “You see them saying, ‘Oh, I’ve been here . . . I ate there.’ ”

The museum also plans three special events: An architect will discuss the current trend toward “entertainment dining,” a historian will talk about Hollywood’s influence, and the museum will conduct a guided tour of ‘50s-style restaurants in Los Angeles.

“American Dining: California’s Role” opened June 22 and runs through Oct. 26. Call the center at (714) 738-6545 for information.
