Police Announce Moves on Gangsters

From Times Wire Reports

Police said they have launched a crackdown on gangsterism after months of unrest sparked by the collapse of investment pyramid schemes that cost many people their life savings. Sources in the Interior Ministry said special forces entered the chaotic southern towns of Vlore, Gjirokaster, Sarande and Tepelene, which have been controlled by heavily armed gangs since March. Mob boss Lefter Zani, known as Vlore’s most wanted man, told the leading daily Koha Jone that he would avenge the police action.
