PepsiCo Inc. said it received approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission to spin off its Tricon Global Restaurants Inc. unit. The spinoff, which is scheduled to occur Oct. 6, will give PepsiCo shareholders one share of Tricon stock for each 10 shares of PepsiCo they own. . . . The AFL-CIO launched a $5-million TV campaign in five cities to improve the image of organized labor--and to add to its membership. The media campaign features four commercials that will run for eight weeks in Baltimore, Milwaukee, Seattle, San Antonio and St. Louis.
