Sales Strong, Pacific Sunwear Shares Up 10%

Shares of Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. rose 10% Friday on speculation that the company will post a significant increase in same-store sales for August. The company, which sells casual apparel for teens and young adults, had posted a 14% gain in same-store sales for the second quarter ended Aug. 2. Chief Financial Officer Carl Womack said this month’s back-to-school sales have been very strong. Pacific Sunwear stock rose $3.75 to $38.50 per share on the Nasdaq market.
