Brewers Get Good Bounces

MILWAUKEE — Jeromy Burnitz hit a three-run homer and Jeff D’Amico pitched into the seventh inning Friday night as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the New York Yankees, 6-4.
Jeff Cirillo added a disputed home run and Jack Voigt had a solo shot as the Brewers stopped the Yankees’ three-game winning streak.
D’Amico (8-4) gave up a two-run homer to Paul O’Neill in the first, but then held the Yankees scoreless until Chad Curtis hit a leadoff homer in the seventh.
Dwight Gooden (3-3) took a 2-1 lead into the fifth, but the Brewers scored four times.
Cirillo was credited with a home run in the first inning, even though replays showed his drive to right field did not leave the park.
The ball bounced back into play after hitting the top of the padding above the wall, but second-base umpire Larry McCoy ruled it a home run.
