Times Names New VP in Circulation Marketing

The Los Angeles Times has promoted Steven H. Alexander, director of sales and distribution, to vice president of consumer marketing-circulation. Alexander will be responsible for all aspects of selling and distributing the newspaper, including customer service, home delivery, street sales and circulation sales.
“Steve’s leadership has raised the bar for our entire industry,” said Jeffrey S. Klein, senior vice president and general manager, news. “As one of the industry’s top circulation executives, he has provided masterful leadership and innovative programs that give our customers the most-efficient home delivery and street sales service in the country. efficient, more market-driven and more responsive to our customers.”
Over the last year, Alexander’s division also instituted a successful retail marketing program, a special events sales program and a state-of-the-art sales training and development program, The Times said. All of these have contributed to recent circulation gains by The Times.
For the six-month period ended Sept. 30, The Times reported its third consecutive year-over-year daily circulation gain and its first Sunday circulation gain in six years.
