Traveler’s Notes . . .

The State Apartments, including St. George’s Hall and the Grand Reception room, at Windsor Castle outside London are scheduled to reopen to the public Dec. 27 after $60 million worth of restoration to repair damage from a fire in 1992. Adult admission prices are still about $16; there are no advance tickets. The castle is open daily, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., through March; then it stays open to 4 p.m. . . . The Queen Elizabeth II, which shed 260 of its 1,760 passenger berths in a major renovation last December, has put them back in service due to high demand. Cunard spokesman Bill Spears said last week that the classic liner is running about 90% of capacity on most trips this year, up from 65% to 70% last year, due to a “buoyant” cruise market. And among the berths most in demand are the lower-priced ones that were removed. . . . Radisson Seven Seas has become the latest victim of “late-ship syndrome.” Its Paul Gauguin cruise ship will be late coming out of its French shipyard, forcing cancellation of a Dec. 4 cruise from San Juan to Fort Lauderdale. The 350 passengers are being offered refunds and bookings on other dates. The Dec. 12 cruise, from Fort Lauderdale to San Diego, is unaffected, a company spokesman said.
