* Re “Parks Details 2nd Phase of Restructuring,” Sept. 19.
I too am concerned about Chief [Bernard] Parks’ proposed cutback of senior lead officers, to put more police on the streets.
I, as do the rest of our Neighborhood Watch members, feel that it will destroy a lot of fine hard work that these lead officers have put into the project. Without the cohesion between the community relations section and individual watch groups, all our efforts will be wasted.
Our lead officer does a lot of work with us, on his own time. He is always there when needed. To remove this person would almost surely result in breakup of our group. We strongly believe that the senior lead officers [should] be left alone, to continue the good relations we have with the LAPD.
