SUN VALLEY — One man was fatally shot and another critically wounded Saturday in a gang-related drive-by shooting, authorities said.
Juan Valencia, 20, of Sun Valley, was shot in the upper body and died a short time later at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, said Det. Frank Bishop of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Foothill Division.
Erube Arevizu, 19, of Lake View Terrace, was shot in the lower torso and also was taken to Providence Holy Cross, Bishop said.
Witnesses told police Valencia and Arevizu were riding in a Honda at 3 a.m. with several others when the car stopped at Vaughn Street and Glenoaks Boulevard, Bishop said. A maroon Toyota Camry pulled up alongside, and several shots were fired into the Honda, he said.
No arrests have been made and no weapon has been recovered, Bishop said.
