Paris Tunnel

The tragedy of Princess Diana’s death is that blame can be spread in so many directions. Yes, the paparazzi probably triggered the accident, the driver was impaired, and the passengers were not wearing seat belts. But I am surprised that no one mentions the design of the tunnel, with support columns open to the ground and no guard rail in between. (Are there any tunnels like that left in the United States? I’m sure there are none in California.)
Take away any one of these causes, and three people would still be alive.
