L.A. River Conference to Be Held Saturday

Environmentalists, planners, politicians and business leaders will debate the future of the Los Angeles River and surrounding properties at a conference Saturday.
The meeting, titled “The River Through Downtown,” will explore ideas for parkland, flood control and industrial development. The former Taylor railroad yard, a large tract of land just east of the river and south of the Glendale Freeway, will be the focus of a discussion.
The conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. at the Mark Taper Auditorium of the Los Angeles Central Library, Flower and 5th streets.
