Alex Trebek Gives 74 Acres of Open Land to Conservancy

Alex Trebek, host of the popular game show “Jeopardy!”, has donated 74 acres of open land in the Hollywood Hills to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, officials said Tuesday.
The $2-million parcel will nearly double the public parkland in the area north of Hollywood Boulevard and east of Nichols Canyon Road, said John Diaz, acquisitions director for the conservancy.
Trails on Trebek’s land, which is next to Wattles Park and Runyon Canyon Park, are frequently used by hikers and cyclists. Diaz said the conservancy will improve those trails.
The conservancy has wanted the land as a “wildlife corridor” for deer, coyotes and other species to move between the Hollywood and San Diego freeways.
