A man who was found face down in his hot tub has been identified as a retired Thousand Oaks pharmacist.
Gary R. Ward, 66, was pronounced dead Thursday night at Los Robles Regional Medical Center after his wife found him unconscious in a spa at their home in the 200 block of Lucero Street, Ventura County sheriff’s deputies said.
An autopsy Friday afternoon revealed that Ward drowned in the spa, said Deputy Coroner Jim Wingate. Funeral arrangements were pending. Ward is survived by his wife, Donna, and the couple’s two adult children, Jeff and Dina.
Ward’s death is the fourth drowning in a month in Ventura County. A 4-year-old Simi Valley girl and an 18-month-old Camarillo boy died in separate swimming pool accidents and a 14-month-old Ventura boy drowned in a bathtub.
