Ventura police were searching Tuesday for a man suspected of trying to rob the Taco Bell restaurant at 35 W. Main St.
The attempted robbery occurred about 10:20 p.m. Monday when a man walked to the counter and placed an order. When the cashier opened the register, the man demanded money, according to police. When the cashier resisted, the man pulled a 10-inch-long folding knife and threatened the cashier.
The cashier sounded an alarm, causing the would-be robber to run outside, get on his bicycle and flee. The suspect is described as a white male in his 40s, unshaven, with short hair and wearing a checkered shirt and white T-shirt.
