At a cost of $23 million, the defeat of Prop. 226 has been a pyrrhic victory for the unions. The antilabor forces of right-wing zealotry and corporate greed and domination plan to drive unions to near-bankruptcy by forcing them to spend their funds for defense against endless attacks by nuisance propositions and attempted legislation hostile to labor.
