4.3 Quake Is Latest in Series of Temblors

A magnitude 4.3 earthquake, the third temblor of about that size in the past six days, struck the Mammoth Lakes area of the Eastern Sierra on Friday afternoon, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. The latest quake, at 1:07 p.m., was centered 10 miles southeast of Mammoth Lakes, close to others in a series of temblors that peaked with a 5.1 on June 8.
