Loshak, a forward from Edison High, is averaging six points but scored a season-high 16 as the Pirates beat College of the Canyons, 74-66, Saturday to advance to the state playoffs. She had two three-pointers, including one that gave the Pirates a 66-61 lead with about four minutes left.

Track & Field
Smith, from Vista Rancho Buena Vista High, was a football standout in high school but is concentrating on track now. He won the 100 meters in 10.5, was first in the 110 hurdles (14.3) and also won the long jump (22 feet) as Saddleback beat Fullerton and San Bernardino Valley.

* Santa Ana, sophomore. He won two events and was on two winning relay teams as the Dons beat Orange Coast and Cuyamaca.
