City Clerk Resigns, Won’t Seek Post in Election
- Share via
Lawndale City Clerk Sandy Forrest resigned from her post Friday and will not run for the office in next month’s election.
The City Council appointed Forrest in 1996 when former Clerk Neil Roth, who had two years remaining in his term, was elected to the council. Forrest had been the deputy city clerk for seven years and has worked both jobs for the past two years.
Forrest said she does not believe that the part-time job should be an elected position. She said it is a professional job and she has no interest in running for political office. She plans to work as a consultant in the El Segundo city clerk’s office.
Two residents plan to make a bid for city clerk. Uffe Moller, a former city recreation commissioner, and Steve Nicolopulos have announced plans to run in the April 14 election.
