Free Air Time

It is reassuring to see the editorial concerning the Federal Communications Commission (“Hands Off the FCC,” March 16) as it relates to reforming the absurd manner in which we finance political campaigns in this country. The American public needs to be reminded periodically that radio and television stations are allowed by the FCC to make their billions of dollars through the exploitation of our public property, so long as they conform to the “public interest, convenience and necessity.” Certainly in a democracy that should include free campaign air time.
