A look at the progress of former Orange County prep athletes now in college.
BARRY UNIVERSITY VOLLEYBALL
* County connections: Meghan Clarke of Santa Margarita
* Worth noting: Clarke, a freshman, is the starting setter for Barry, ranked fifth in Division II with a 20-4 record. Clark is third in the Sunshine State Conference with 950 assists for Barry, located in Miami.
LOYOLA MARYMOUNT WOMEN’S SOCCER
* County connections: Kim Buccola and Trisha Steiner of Mater Dei, Jessica Lyon of Marina, Heather Nelson and Tracy Sharp of Esperanza, Stacy Roberts of Laguna Hills and Michelle Woiemberhge of Cypress
* Worth noting: Sharp, a sophomore goalkeeper, also has broken the school’s career record for shutouts (11 1/2 this season, 16 1/2 for her career) and has a 0.62 goals-against average. Lyon, a senior forward, is all-time school assists leader (18). Steiner, a junior midfielder who transferred from Arizona State, played half the season before injuring her knee. Loyola is 11-2-4.
UPDATE
* Maryland women’s soccer: Riki-Ann Serrins, a sophomore goalkeeper from Santa Margarita, made a career-high 13 saves in a 3-2 overtime loss to Wake Forest. She also had an assist in that match, the first point in her college career.
