In a continuing effort to steer county youth away from drugs, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and the Rio School District will be opening an office for DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) and Youth Services on the Rio Del Valle Junior High School campus.
On Nov. 25, department and district officials will officially open the office, which will be the headquarters for two deputies.
Officials said the goal of locating an office at the school is to increase interaction among students, the Sheriff’s Department and school staff. The office will ultimately be located in a storefront that will be built into the school’s new gymnasium.
The dedication ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at the Rio Del Valle Junior High School administration building, 3100 North Rose Ave.
