Oxnard police arrested a 15-year-old boy Saturday on suspicion of stealing a car, evading police and hit-and-run driving.
The youth was arrested shortly after 1:30 a.m. after a 10-minute chase through north Oxnard. Officer Charles Woodruff apprehended the boy after he had jumped from a car while it was still moving, authorities said. The car, a 1983 Buick Limited belonging to Jesus Morales, 50, of Oxnard, then collided with a trash container.
Police did not release the boy’s name and were unable to locate his passenger, who fled on foot.
Officers found several items in the car that may have been taken in an earlier burglary of another vehicle.
The underage driver is being held in Juvenile Hall Detention Center.
