Calabasas Up to Speed, Overpowers Burbank

Undefeated Calabasas High needed only 40 minutes to defeat Burbank in a nonleague girls’ volleyball match Thursday at Calabasas.
Brooke Niles had 10 kills in 16 attempts plus six aces and seven digs, and the Coyotes downed the Bulldogs, 15-2, 15-3, 15-1.
Sarah Postler had 21 assists for Calabasas (8-0).
Notre Dame def. Highland, 15-7, 16-14, 12-15, 15-13--Stephanie Berger had 21 kills and Kristina Howard added 14 for host Notre Dame in a nonleague match.
Howard had 11 digs and Sarah Braga added 10 for the Knights (6-0).
Hart def. Louisville, 16-14, 10-15, 15-13, 8-15, 15-13--Colleen Hamlin had 21 kills and Angelina Gerardo added seven kills and eight blocks but the Royals (3-4) fell in a nonleague match at Louisville.
Alemany def. Canyon, 15-11, 10-15, 15-2, 15-10--Coral Florian and Julie Mullins combined for 27 kills for the Indians (4-2) in a nonleague victory at Canyon.
Florian had 17 kills and Mullins 10 for the Alemany.
Gina Zambetti added 34 assists for the Indians.
Buena def. Channel Islands, 15-2, 15-11, 15-1--Kelly Greathouse had seven kills and five blocks for the Bulldogs in the nonleague victory at Buena.
Janee Richards and Krystal McFarland each had six kills and nine assists for Buena (4-1).
Rio Mesa def. Hueneme, 15-9, 17-15, 15-13--Erin McCarthy had nine kills and 10 aces, and Lonna Moeller added seven kills for the Spartans (2-2, 2-2) in a Pacific View League match at Rio Mesa.
Sylmar def. North Hollywood, 15-4, 15-7, 15-6--Kassy Jimenez had 12 kills and three blocks for the Spartans (4-0, 2-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference victory at North Hollywood.
Van Nuys def. Sherman Oaks CES, 15-8, 15-9, 15-0--Margo Wallace had eight kills, 17 assists and seven aces for the Wolves (2-2, 2-1) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference victory at Sherman Oaks CES.
Village Christian d. Maranatha, 14-16, 5-15, 15-9, 15-8, 15-13--Errin Benesh had 19 kills and 10 blocks for the host Crusaders (7-0) in a nonleague match.
